Olive Young Global Stopped Shipping to the US. Here Is What Still Works.

The global site now says it outright: no shipping to the 50 states or D.C. Guam and Puerto Rico still go through, Hawaii does not, and the new US store is a different shop with a different shelf. Here is what changed, what it costs you now, and the routes that still reach a Korean checkout.

If you tried to check out on Olive Young Global from a US address this year and it would not let you, you did not do anything wrong. The site now says so on its own face. As of today, the banner reads: “This site does not ship to the U.S. (50 U.S. states & D.C.)”

That one sentence ended the most common way Americans bought Korean skincare, and it is why the same question keeps coming back on r/koreanskincare, r/AsianBeauty and r/KoreanBeauty — threads with two hundred replies and no clean answer in them. This page is the clean answer, including the parts nobody likes.

Quick Answer

Olive Young Global stopped shipping to the 50 US states and D.C. In its place there is us.oliveyoung.com, a separate US storefront that ships domestically, and a physical store in Pasadena that opened on 29 May 2026. The US operation is a US retailer with its own shelf — it is not the Korean catalogue with a different domain. If you want something the US shelf does not carry, you now need someone buying inside Korea and shipping it out. And because the $800 duty-free allowance on small parcels is gone, that parcel will meet customs on the way in.

What exactly changed

Three separate things happened, and they get mixed together constantly:

  • The global site closed the 50 states. Not a glitch, not a payment problem, not your card. A stated policy, printed on the storefront.
  • A US business opened. The Pasadena store opened 29 May 2026 at 58 West Colorado Boulevard — around 8,600 square feet, roughly 400 brands and 5,000 products, alongside a US e-commerce site. Reported assortment mixes K-beauty names like Biodance and Mediheal, Olive Young’s own labels such as Colorgram and Bioheal BOH, and global brands including Urban Decay and Lancôme.
  • The customs floor disappeared. The US ended duty-free treatment for low-value shipments in 2025. Parcels that used to slide in under $800 now get assessed.

Read together: the convenient route closed, a different route opened, and the inconvenient route got more expensive. That is the whole situation.

The detail that catches people out: Hawaii

The global site still lists several US-flag destinations as their own shipping choices — Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan) and American Samoa. Orders to those still go through.

Hawaii and Alaska do not. There is no separate entry for either, because they are states, and the block is written against the 50 states and D.C. If you are in Honolulu, you are in the same position as someone in Ohio, even though a Guam address two thousand miles further out is fine. We have seen people assume the opposite and sit waiting for a parcel that was never going to ship.

One more practical note: the destination list runs past seventy entries and scrolls, so it is easy to glance at it and conclude your country is missing when it is not. Open the selector and scroll before you believe anything — including anything written about it elsewhere.

Is the US site a replacement?

For some baskets, honestly, yes. If what you buy is the well-known K-beauty brands and Olive Young’s own labels, a domestic US order is faster, cheaper and carries no customs risk. Buying from Korea to get something you can buy in Pasadena is a waste of your money and our time, and we will tell you so.

It stops being a replacement when what you want is not on that shelf. A 5,000-product US assortment is a curated retail range; Olive Young in Korea is the place where a brand launches a limited run, where a Korean-market collaboration sits for six weeks, and where the sunscreen you read about has three formulations and the US shelf gets one. Nothing sinister about that — it is how a new market entry works. But it means “is it on the US site?” is now the first question, not a formality.

We should be straight about the limits of this section: we could not load us.oliveyoung.com directly to check its catalogue, shipping thresholds or delivery times ourselves, so we are not going to quote numbers for them. Check the site for its current terms, and treat anyone quoting you a precise free-shipping figure from memory with suspicion.

What customs does now

This is the part most write-ups skip, and it is the part that changes whether an order is worth placing.

The old rule was simple: under $800, no duty, no paperwork. That rule is gone for low-value shipments, which is exactly the band a skincare order lands in. A parcel from Korea is now assessed on the way in, and you will be asked for the amount before it is released.

We are not going to print a rate. Korean-origin cosmetics have been through more than one tariff regime this year, a Supreme Court decision in February changed the basis of part of it, and litigation is still running. Any number published today may be wrong next month — which is why you should distrust pages that state one confidently. What is reliable is the shape: budget for duty, ask for the landed figure before you commit, and do not plan around the old $800 line.

The routes that still reach the Korean catalogue

  • The US site or the Pasadena store. First stop, every time. If the item is there, stop here.
  • A different global retailer. Several Korean sellers ship to the US independently of Olive Young. Selection is narrower and prices are usually higher, but the transaction is simple.
  • Someone you know in Korea. Free, and the obvious answer if you have that person. They buy, they post, you cover the cost. The friction is customs paperwork and the fact that you are asking a favour that involves standing in a queue.
  • A buying service inside Korea. Someone walks into the shop or orders on the Korean site, then ships it to you. This is what covers Korea-only items, limited runs and anything where the US shelf says no.

Where we fit

We are in Korea. For this particular problem that is the entire value: we can buy from the Korean Olive Young — store or site — and send it to you.

What that looks like in practice: send us the product names or links, tell us the destination, and you get back the Korean price, what shipping that volume of liquid actually costs, and our fee, as one figure before anything is charged. Liquids and volumes matter more than people expect — carriers price by weight and restrict some formulations, so a basket of toners costs differently than a basket of sheet masks. We would rather tell you that up front than surprise you at the quote.

Two things we will say no to. We will not pretend to predict your duty bill, because the rate has moved three times this year. And if your whole list is available on the US site, we will point you there instead of charging you to buy it the long way.

FAQ

Why did Olive Young Global stop shipping to the US?

The company opened its own US business — a Pasadena store and a US e-commerce site — on 29 May 2026, and closed the 50 states and D.C. on the global storefront. The global site states the exclusion directly rather than explaining it, so the reasoning is inference, but the timing is not subtle.

Does Olive Young Global ship to Hawaii?

No. Hawaii is one of the 50 states, and the block is written against the 50 states and D.C. There is no separate Hawaii entry in the shipping selector. Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa are listed individually and do still work.

Does it still ship to Canada, Australia, Singapore or Japan?

Those are all in the destination selector, yes. The only exclusion announced on the banner is the 50 US states and D.C. Because the list is long and scrolls, check the selector for your own country rather than trusting a list someone typed out — including ours.

Can I use a US package-forwarding address to get around it?

No, and this is the common mistake. The block is on the destination, so a US forwarding address is the thing being refused. Forwarding only helps when a shop ships to a country you are not in; here the shop is refusing the country you want the parcel to end up in.

Is the US site cheaper than buying from Korea?

For anything it stocks, almost certainly — domestic shipping and no customs. The Korean route is for what the US site does not carry. If you are comparing the same product on both, buy it domestically.

What about the Korea-only items I keep seeing on TikTok?

Those are the actual reason to buy from Korea now. Limited releases, Korean-market collaborations and formulations that never crossed over are the gap between the two catalogues. Send the specific product rather than the category — a screenshot or a link is enough, and it tells us immediately whether it is a Korean exclusive or something already sitting on a US shelf.

How much duty will I pay?

We cannot tell you, and nobody honest can right now. The $800 small-parcel exemption is gone, so there will be something to pay. The rate on Korean cosmetics has changed more than once in 2026 and is still being litigated. Get the current figure from the carrier or a customs broker at the time you ship, not from a blog post — this one included.

Can you ship skincare and sunscreen out of Korea at all?

Mostly yes, with real exceptions. Carriers restrict some pressurised and alcohol-heavy formulations, and volume drives the price more than the number of items does. Ask before you build a long list, not after.

Have a list that the US site does not cover? Send the links or product names in chat with your destination. We will tell you the Korean price, what shipping actually costs for that basket, and whether you would be better off buying it at home.
