You Landed in Seoul and You’re Out of Business Cards. Here’s How to Get Them by Tomorrow Morning.
A trade show starts in the morning and you have eleven cards left. Korean print shops can turn business cards around in a few hours — but their order sites want a Korean account, and your file probably is not print-ready.
The message arrived at 16:20: a buyer in town for a trade show at COEX, opening the next morning, with eleven business cards left in his case. He had the artwork — an .ai file from his designer at home — and no idea what to do with it in a country where he could not read the print shops’ websites.
He had his cards at the hotel front desk by 09:40 the next day, before his first meeting.
Quick answer
Seoul is unusually good at this. The printing district around Chungmuro has shops that will take a print-ready file in the afternoon and hand you finished cards the same evening or the next morning — 200 double-sided cards run about ₩25,000–45,000 depending on the paper and finish. Online printers are cheaper (₩8,000–20,000) but take 2–3 days and their order forms require a Korean account and card. The two things that stop foreign visitors are access and file format. Send us the .ai or .pdf, we check it against the printer’s requirements, take it to a shop, and courier the finished cards to your hotel. Our fee is the in-store visit rate, from ₩25,000; the printing and courier are passed through at cost.
Why you cannot just order it yourself
The order sites are closed to you
Korea’s big online printers — Adpia, Redprinting, Ohprint.me — are excellent and cheap. They also require a Korean account with identity verification, the interface is Korean-only, and the upload step rejects files with a Korean-language error you cannot act on. This is the same wall as every other Korean service.
Walk-in works, but only if you can explain what you want
You can walk into a Chungmuro shop with a USB stick. People do. But the conversation is entirely in Korean and it is a technical conversation: paper weight, coating, finish, bleed, how many, by when. Getting “matte laminate, 300g, rounded corners, 200 pieces, tonight” across with a translation app is possible and frequently goes wrong in an expensive way.
Your file is probably not print-ready
This is where most urgent jobs actually fail, and it has nothing to do with language.
The file problems that cost you a day
We check all of these before anything goes to a printer, because catching them at 17:00 is free and catching them at 09:00 the next morning is not.
- Fonts not outlined. The single most common problem. If the printer does not have your font, your carefully set name renders in something else — or the file simply will not open. In Illustrator: select all, then Type → Create Outlines. Send the outlined version.
- RGB instead of CMYK. Screen colours are not print colours. A deep RGB blue prints noticeably duller. Convert to CMYK and accept that what you see will shift slightly.
- No bleed. Korean printers expect 1–2mm of bleed on every edge. Without it, trimming leaves a white hairline along one side of every card.
- Wrong size. This one surprises people. The Korean standard is 90 × 50mm. A US card is 88.9 × 50.8mm and a European one is 85 × 55mm. Print your home-size file here and it either gets scaled (throwing off your margins) or comes back a size that sits oddly in a Korean cardholder. If you have time, resize properly. If you do not, we tell the printer to keep proportions and centre it.
- Text too close to the edge. Keep 3mm of clearance. Anything closer risks being trimmed off.
- Low-resolution logo. A logo pulled from a website at 72dpi looks fine on screen and visibly fuzzy at 300dpi. Send vector if you have it.
If your designer is asleep in another timezone and the file is wrong, a Chungmuro shop can usually fix bleed and outlining for around ₩10,000–20,000. They will not redesign your card, but they will make it printable.
The thing nobody tells you: add a Korean side
If you are here for business, this is the highest-value thing on this page.
Exchanging cards in Korea is a real ritual, not a formality. Cards are offered and received with two hands, you read the card before putting it away, you place it on the table during the meeting rather than pocketing it immediately, and you never write on someone’s card in front of them.
Most foreign visitors hand over an English-only card. A card with English on one side and Korean on the other is remembered, and more practically it means the person can actually pronounce your name and file you correctly. What belongs on the Korean side:
- Your name transliterated into Hangul
- Your title and company — Korean business culture is title-conscious, and an accurate title tells people how to address you
- The company name, either translated or transliterated, whichever your company already uses
Double-sided printing costs almost nothing extra. We can prepare the Korean side and show you the layout before it goes to print.
How this one ran
- He sent the .ai file in chat at 16:20, with the trade show name and his hotel in Samseong-dong.
- We opened and checked it. Fonts were live, not outlined. It was RGB. There was no bleed. Size was 3.5 × 2 inches. All four of the usual problems in one file.
- Fixed and confirmed. Outlined the type, converted to CMYK, added 2mm bleed, resized to 90 × 50mm with the margins rebalanced. We sent a PDF proof back to the chat and asked him to check the spelling of his own name and phone number — the two things that are catastrophic to get wrong and that only he can verify.
- He asked for a Korean side. We laid one out, sent it for approval, he approved it at 17:30.

What to watch for
Proof the spelling yourself
We will not catch a misspelling of your own name, your email, or your phone number, because we have nothing to check it against. Read the proof properly before approving. A digit wrong in a phone number means 200 useless cards.
Sunday is quiet
Most Chungmuro shops close Sunday and some close Saturday afternoon. A Sunday emergency usually means Monday morning delivery.
Special finishes take longer
Foil stamping, embossing, spot UV and unusual papers add a day or more and are not same-day work. If you need cards tomorrow, take matte or gloss laminate on a standard 300g stock and be happy with it.
Quantity barely changes the price
The setup dominates the cost. 100 cards and 500 cards are often within ₩10,000 of each other, so if you are printing at all, print enough.
What else we print
The same route handles anything a Korean print shop does, which is a lot:

FAQ
What file should I send?
Print-ready PDF is best. .ai is fine. We can work from PNG or JPEG if it is high resolution, but quality will be lower and we will tell you before printing. A photo of an old card is not usable for printing, though it is useful as a reference for rebuilding the layout.
I do not have a design at all. Can you make one?
We can lay out a clean, simple card from your details — name, title, company, contact, logo — and show it to you before printing. We are not a design studio and will not invent a brand identity, but a plain professional card is very doable.
How late can I ask and still have cards tomorrow morning?
Around 16:00 is comfortable. Up to about 18:00 is often still possible for next-morning collection. After that it becomes the following afternoon.
Can you do this in Busan?
Yes. Busan has its own print district and same-day printing works there too. Outside Seoul and Busan we use an online printer and courier the result, which adds a day or two.
Will you keep my file?
We keep the print-ready file for 30 days so a reprint is one message rather than starting over, then delete it. Tell us if you would rather we delete it immediately.
Can I get a Korean side if I do not speak Korean?
Yes — that is a normal request. We prepare it and show you the layout with an explanation of what each line says before anything is printed.
